If at this time last year, someone were to have told us that we’d be writing about banana cream pie, that person would have been rewarded with snobbish sneers, derisive snorts of laughter, and a quick kick to the groin. But, here we stand, with a big plate of humble pie - or rather banana cream pie - in our hands, ready for the tasting.
