I was looking for a recipe that was simple but also would present as an elegant
snack cake. In Dede Wilson’s cookbook “Unforgettable Desserts”, I found what I had been looking for. It is a simple, velvety crumbed
cake made with buttermilk and dark
brown sugar, giving it a very pronounced caramel flavor. Pockets of fresh
blackberries with their distinct flavor stands up to the
brown sugar.
