  This was for a coworker's husband.  They owned property in northern New England for a while and made and sold maple sugar.  The cake is a simple chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.  The maple leaves were outlined with royal icing (I'd traced two maple leaf cookie cutters onto parchment) and then filled with more royal icing thinned with water.  Colors were green and copper.  Looks like one of the leaves broke on the way to their house.
