I’ve made the Tall & Creamy Cheesecake as well as the fabulous French Pear Tart.

Now, I’m not sure why the French Pear Tart wasn’t as fabulous to me, but it may be because I deleted the icing sugar, didn’t mix the egg in enough but the crust was not so very good. Okay, then moving on to the almond cream: I used brown sugar and the almonds were as fine as sand, so this may have been another factor. It wasn’t light & textured as I wanted. Next, I used peaches. Canned peaches.

Did I mention I didn’t really follow the recipe? Such presumption! Preposterous.

Tall & Creamy Cheesecake’s final verdict: GOOD! But there was a bit of a comedy of errors here. I had a 500g block of cream cheese - however I forgot that um, 1 pound of cream cheese does equal 500g. I had it in my brain that it was 1kg. You see, my unassailable self then halved the recipe but still used 500g cream cheese. Good grief how my heart sank when I realised the mistake. It was still good because I never told a soul (until only the crumbs were left haha) then we all realised that it should have a lighter and creamier texture.

The best-priced items between Guten Braun, Giant, Cake Connection, Bake With Yen PJ, Chang Thung & ICCA:

• 1kg Plain flour: RM2.00 (I now only buy plain flour from CC)
• 1kg Self Raising Flour: RM3.80
• Baking Powder & Baking Soda: RM1 each (Same price as BWY! I’d prefer buying from here)
• Cake boards: RM0.05 cheaper than the other places. I just found out. This’ll be my new one stop cake-board relief! All sizes neatly organised too. I like!
• Cake boxes: Reasonable - didn’t check the exact price.

Notes
1. I’ll be switching a lot of my purchasing from Guten Braun to here since the prices are so good. I had a misconception stuff would be expensive here, so now I can finally tell people: I found the most posh bakeshop actually selling REASONABLY PRICED items! My kinda store!

2. I bought edible ink pens here for RM39 and found it in Bake With Yen, Puchong for RM27. Well, I never thought I’d ever land myself in Puchong anyway…

3. I bought a RM3.50 flower cutter from BWY, Puchong but the shape that results is uber chachat. Please stick to quality brands or Wilton, or something. Yours truly, also known as cheapskate and bargain hunter has learnt her lesson.
