My first time attempting Macarons where I grew up was disastrous as can
be. It went flat, there´s no feet and its bottom sticked to the oven tray as
though it was UHU glue. Taste wise as I remembered it was unimpressive
too and there I was thinking - why did I even bother. Macarons were hard
to come by then (it was more than 4 years ago) and being exposed to
blogsphere then where every

Today, I am going to share with you another classic cherry base German cake since cherries are still in season.
Blackforest Cake or Schwarzwalder Torte is known the world over but little is known when anyone mentions Donauwelle outside of Germany.  I think it is such a pity because I love this cake more than Blackforest Cake simply because it has less cream and I like the consistency of Rührteig

Better late than never. A saying I hold dearly whenever I procrastinate doingsomething I´ve been wanting to do but never got around doing it. For this, I really have to thank DH Almere for giving me this opporturnity to feature´The making of Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte or Blackforest Cake` as how it isknown internationally here. Without this invite, I would not have known howgood this cake

David Copperfield wannabe had re-emerged again :-)Â
Long story short, it is time of the year where everything goes wrong and
our dear CPU decided to gave way again. But the positive side of this

The weather will soon hit sub-zero in the area where I live. It is really strange that
Indian cuisine had not taken off in this part of the region although I personally feel that
the locals might enjoy it since they are accustom to chilli powder and the usage of
various types of spices in their cooking. Curry-wurst - a sausage base snack heavily
smouldered with ketchup and chili powder isÂ

Both our apple tree did not bear that much apples this year. But we´re not complaining, because we had so much trouble finishing up ours last year so much so that we had to freeze some of them. In any given normal size apple trees, once can fetch as little as 100 apples up to hundreds depending on the tree and the weather that season.  Hubby spent a lot of time cooking Apfelmus from last years

If only our three nights, lake view accomodation right infront of Koenigssee were
much longer, I would not have sanked back to reality so fast upon returning back
home. The first photo showned above was taken from our room with balcony
view in Koenigssee Hotel. It was early morning before tourist starts pouring in.
Breathtaking, serene and captivating, this is the spectacular Koenigssee (or

Do ignore what I had type as the header on this photo. There had been a mistake
and I´m too lazy to go change them in my program, upload the photo again and get
them pasted here. I have a good excuse for my laziness though and that, I have been
tending religiously on our new garden layout past days, and today was the most tedious
of the lot. If there´s anything that I need badly today (

Time for a little update or recipe sharing on the cooking front! This post will be short,
a lot of things are on my hand currently as we are expecting some guest to come visit us,
so lots of thing to prepare!  Also, sigh … I sprained my wrist two nights ago, so typing
really isn´t the easiest thing to do right now but yet, I don´t want to leave this blog with
no update for too long.  So

Rhone´s Alpes Valley is the fruit and wine producing region in France and it made
sense that they are known as the French capital of Gastronomy.  We arrive at
the right season and just in time for Meens family (the Madame´s dad and my dad
are brothers) to feed us.  I love this area for many reasons.Â

This is another follow up post of my recent trip to Rhone´s Valley, France to visit
my godmother, her daughter and her family . Now that I´m finally settling down
after our down south road trip, I´m beginning to fill up the words to the gorgeous
pictures taken and soon, as promised, I will feed them all in. The visit deserve so
much and I didn´t want to just leave it as it is and I kinda

Travelling is great but it can really suck the energy out of you especially towards the end when you sink back to reality. This is exactly how I am feeling right now after returning from a 9 days 8 nights road trip down south to Bavaria area, Koenigssee and beyond to Austria at the border. We covered and saw a lot, both by car travel and a little hike when needed. I guess it will take a

They say picture say a thousand words.Â
It really ain´t my style to feature a travel post without description or story but I would like to make an
exception this time round.  I will come around filing them up with words once my writing mojo decides to
resurface and hopefully, it will be soon.
Love,

Caprese is a very popular salad choice here in Nordrhein Westfalen region.Â
You will see it being serve not only in restaurants but at home during family
meals to entertaining friends. I think Caprese is one of those salad that will
not go wrong, easy to assemble and takes no more than 3 key ingredient to
make with good quality olive oil thrown in.Â
I like mine serve with a dash of

My childhood experience had been pretty simple but filled with love. My parents does
not lavish us unnessasarily due to our financial background, but they do provide us
their best with their limited resources. While my dad goes to work, my mum slaves
herself in the house with the never-ending housework, took care of the three of us
and subsequently making ends meet with odd-jobs here and

I still remember my first time watching Jamie Oliver on the screen. I was mid-air
somewhere between my flight from Kuala Lumpur and Paris, half dozing off after a
heavy meal but yet not comfortable enough to sleep soundly in my economy seat.Â
My finger stopped short at this particular channel, probably rubbed my eye a little
because a cute, british lad wearing nothing much except a little

I love my fish diet in any imaginable way. I find that if it is cooked right, fish are notonly healthy, they are delicious too. Unfortunately, I don´t know that many recipesthat call for fish usage except for cooking them whole and serving them with rice eg:steam fish the chinese way with various cordiments or pan-frying them before servingthem with sauces.Â
