Continuing my post on my recent Cameron Highland trip, now … where was I? Oh yes, food. We had earlier stop in Sungei Palas Tea Centre for a break, supposedly a tea break only but knowing this food blogger, no food escape her hungry tummy. We had sandwiches, scones, salads and cakes with our hot tea, cold tea, blended tea and what not. But that’s not enough. It is after all just light bite and soon after, in less than 30 minutes that we made our way down to Brinchang for our late lunch.
Late Lunch at T-Cafe, Brinchang
My sis suggested us to go check out T-Cafe, a supposedly famous quaint little cafe located above Mary Brown fast food place. It is highly recommended by most of the famous guide book hence we went in with high expectation. This was what we ate.
Fresh Mushroom Soup, great stuff!

I was looking back at some recent photos I took in Cameron and noticed a familiar protruding flesh staring back at me from under my chin and arms. Argggg … what an irritating sight! Also, I’ve got tones of fruits and vegetables to use up, all from my impromptu purchase in Cameron Highlands and if I don’t use them any sooner, it will all rot. Wasted, just like that.
So this morning, I woke up with two mission. To finish up as much perishable as possible; from strawberries to vegetables and secondly, minimise fat or calorie content as much as possible during the cooking/baking or whatsoever process to turn them into something edible! My vegetables went towards a western dish called ratatouille, of which the photo DID not turn out well hence I will not be featuring them. The rest of the vegetables went into a pot, where I turn them into a classic ABC soup BUT with a aromatic twist. It was soooo gorgeously smokey and tasty, tasty! So stay tune for that recipe!

Like any weekend getaway, day two’s usually the day where it gets packed up like sardines in a can. My travelling style had changed over the years from being a planner from top to toe, to a free and easy traveller. I’ll still do a simple routine check on some places of interest and what can we do to fill up time, and of course being a foodie means, where to go to for a meal and what’s the specialty. But I’ve experience wonderful vacation with no plans with Juergen, just going with the flow and it had been a tremendous experience for us hence, when my sis asked me what shall we do, I was apprehensive to name anything. There’s two family involved here, and with kids. Why not enjoy everyone’s company and see where it leads us too.
In most cases, I’ll stumble upon great surprises, one after another and its been on hell of a fun vacation, so bring it own!
Breakfast in Jim Thompson, Strawberry Park Resort
We woke up late. The air wer…
We ate like there’s no tomorrow the moment we arrive in Cameron. I’m a foodie after all, but surprise, surprise … so does the rest. Here’s the rundown on what happen on the first day, which was eating and nothing much else!
Organic Lunch at Watercrest Valley, Tringkap
Our lunch stop were at a watercrest farm, overlooking a farming hill. Since we were rather full, the four of us opted for their 2-3 person set lunch priced at RM40.00, a bit pricey for its portion but the difference here are, everything’s organically farmed. Hence, healthier …
A huge bowl of Watercress Soup, which tasted nothing like what we consume down under. The distinct watercress flavour were not present at all, but instead tasted fresh and light. The downside of the soup was, it was wayyyy to peppery to our liking.

Last night while surfing the internet in search for work related inspiration, I stumbled upon the most striking, captivating and of course - delicious looking dessert called Om Ali, which happen to be Egyptian Bread Pudding. I quickly clicked the link, which drew me to here and found that hey, I’ve got all the ingredients! Well, almost.
The recipe called for Orange Blossom Water which I do not have but what I did was, I substituted them with orange juice and orange slices. It was such a marvelous move, for the bread pudding turned out so fragrant. But what I did further after finishing the baking process was, I generously soaked it further with orange juice. The result couldn’t be better, for it was moist and bursting with orange flavour soon after.
I’d like to urge you to give this a try. The ingredients are basic stuff you find from your kitchen, its easy …
I did the most unthinkable. Me and sis had made plans to pamper dad in a local massage centre yesterday but as how it is, plans do change.
It was Father’s Day and there he was, lounging in the living room with mum. My brother was at his usual Flea Market place mending his stall while my sis attended Ashleen’s sports day. The only time where everyone could gather around was late in the evening and the cake was in the oven waiting. I had some time to spare still and so I decided to make FRESH PARPADELLE for dad
Parpadelle, my first freshly made pasta. Well, not entirely first time for I’ve made gnocchi from J’s recipe but that’s with potato where else this are just flour, egg and water.
It turned out to be quite a chore for it was made without a pasta machine. Flattening the pasta to the desired thiness prove to be harder than what’s shown on TV. As always. At one point, I even resorted to stretching the dough by circling it in the air ala pizza style…
