In the winter, when there is not much to bring inside, I regularly buy supermarket flowers. You know, those five and six dollar bouquets that beckon you as you walk in. I always buy the cheapest ones, which are usually some sort of mum. This was a big batch of sunny yellow mums, that I placed in some old salt and pepper shakers.
