I just couldn’t imagine celebrating Easter without hot cross buns. I just adore the sweet, spicy buns spread thickly with butter and jam. Yet until today, I have always taken the easy option - buy half a dozen from the supermarket because I’ve never been successful with any recipe. And I have tried a few! My buns ended up looking totally misshapen and rock hard. Just one bite and you would probably end up with a broken tooth. My kids could have easily used them as footballs! (...)
