When I was growing up a real treat was when my mother bought a “tankers” loaf. We just loved the shape and it tasted different to ordinary “plastic bread (although in my day bread came in waxed paper) - but lets not go there shall we. It was called tankers bread because it resembled a corrugated water tank - common in Australia. Roll on 40 something years and I now make my own bread using the Simply No Knead method!
