One of my all time favorite songs is New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle”; my reaction to Frente!’s version for the song was sort of like “Stop! Stop! You’re ruining a classic!” – as much as I hate to admit it I can be pretty conservative sometimes. If you’re going to revamp with a classic, do it right, ok? Go ask Fine Young Cannibals for advice or something.

Today, I am going to share with you another classic cherry base German cake since cherries are still in season.
Blackforest Cake or Schwarzwalder Torte is known the world over but little is known when anyone mentions Donauwelle outside of Germany.  I think it is such a pity because I love this cake more than Blackforest Cake simply because it has less cream and I like the consistency of Rührteig

I picked up a copy of Ina Garten’s Barefoot Contessa At Home from the library a few months back. One of the first recipes I promptly tried out from the book was the lemon yogurt cake. I watch Ina’s show on television and have made a few of her recipes before with excellent results. This one too turned out to be fantastic. <!–[if !supportEmptyParas]–> <!–[endif]–> Ina uses vegetable oil

Last month, I was contacted by the fine folk at POM wonderful, wondering if I would be interested in sampling POM. I immediately agreed since we are huge fans of POM and it is a must in our shopping list during our trips to Costco. They sent me eight cute little bottles. We drank several of them and I reserved a few of them to try out some recipes. I made this spiced tea cake from the POM website
