Today is Madonna’s 50th Birthday. Happy Birthday to my #1 Idol! i have loved madonna since kindergarten, circa 1983. and my love for her has never wavered. i may not agree with everything that she does (as portrayed by the media) or even like the new stuff she spews out. the last album i enjoyed was Ray of Light. that is neither here nor there. this year my girl turns half a century. regardless of anything, she is a dynamic woman who continuously reinvents herself and makes no excuses for it. she obviously enjoys herself, or else she wouldn’t have lasted as long as she has. “Poor is the man whose pleasures depend on the permission of another.â€

Wow, getting the into the kitchen this week was a of a challenge. You see, we were out camping most of the week. :) And well, there isn’t a great amount of going on when we’re there, so we quickly fit in our yesterday. This was perfect for a Sunday lunch (and fit into our schedule this week).

After watching The Lion King a number of times, Abby thought that the dish called Hakuna (which is a play on words from a song in the movie) would be a fun dish to make.

The title is exaggerated, of course. But this “bread” is really a special treat, not for those concerned with calories or cholesterol. But so goooood!

I cannot tell you how fast it dissappeared from our house - sure we shared with the neighbors, but still… My husband took two of the smaller ones for “lunch” the next day and those were the last of them.

I stumbled upon a picture that captivated me while reading through many of my books for inspiration for this month’s Bread Baking Day with the theme “Small Breads” hosted by Aparna of My Diverse Kitchen. The picture was of “Chocolate Chip Pillows” in the book “Choc…

Recently my new oven arrived and I started up a storm. to be specific. However my father who is on a very strict diet now complained he was unable to eat my little creations as it contained and eggs - both of which are extremely bad for the heart. So I went online and on Martha Stewart, I found a from Divvies Bakery in America. The looked easy and ingredients were so easy to obtain. Just measure out, dump everything into the mixing bowl and beat it all together. The batter would be much runnier than usual because there are high quantities of water in the but the turned out to be extremely moist, spongy and delicious! My dad was so happy! I topped my with Green Tea Frostings which of course I left out for my dad’s cupcak…
