Wow, getting the into the kitchen this week was a bit of a challenge. You see, we were out camping most of the week. :) And well, there isn’t a great amount of going on when we’re there, so we quickly fit in our yesterday. This was perfect for a Sunday lunch (and fit into our schedule this week).

After watching The Lion King a number of times, Abby thought that the dish called Hakuna (which is a play on words from a song in the movie) would be a fun dish to make.

All of the Cooking with Kids recipes come from Company’s Coming Kids’ Healthy Cooking. If you want to get your in the kitchen AND eating foods, this is the book for you! It’s e…

was cooked some weekends back, but getting around now. I was in mood to something new, so took out my . The name sounded exciting and since I was thinking I should make something different, I was eager to try this out. On checking the recipe, I knew immediately that its almost the same type that I make, except it calls for Fenugreek seeds and no ginger. Now I don’t normally add fenugreek seeds unless its for Chettinadu style, where you grind all the masala. This is almost similar. I guess all southern states of India, share more their of cuisines. But still it held to its name.

Weekends are getting more hectic as demand more of our . So we have to plan something that gets done fast. Yet I didn’t want to miss out Sunday, a day to experiment new dishes. As I was busy with breakfast preparations, Hubby dear took over the task of giving the their . I remember those days, when Konda was about 3 yrs, she never used t…

Finally I get to post this lunch, that I prepared some weeks back. At times I find other posts getting priority and these lunch gets delayed. Yesterday I didn’t lunch as we had gone out. We went to a restaurant called Tandoor, which dishes out awesome tandoori authentic dishes. They have open kitchen, covered by glass, so you can actually see the chefs working on your Naans, Kebabs and other things. Wish I could’ve gone in for a visit but seeing through the glass the chef working on them were great enough. We had a wonderful enjoying all the dishes on the buffet. They served a traditional buttermilk in jeera which was awesome. Konda had a field , lapping only on Achari Paneer tikka and Paneer Masala. All in all, it was a memorable lunch.

Konda has a fancy dress competition today and we had to really think hard what to dress her up as. Since it was told to us very late, we had Friday left for shopping. Hubby dear took her and got a dress whic…

Change is the only consistent thing in this life! One can’t escape what changes life brings to one, happiness is when when one can adapt to those changes. I guess in general, life sounds exciting when you have a new overlook or a new thing happening to us. But if you ask me, I am more of a routine, mundane person, though I don’t mind the changes, life has brought to me, if its something related and within my scope, I never get bored with the same thing. But hey colours bring in lot of happiness right. Few friends have been telling me, that I got to change the template atleast. I looked through few but was always coming back to this one. I like white background, so best would be to change the header!

How do you like the new header? I thought this suited my theme and title! With the four seasons and four seasonal style. I somehow loved that Boar getting BBQ! It took me back to those wonderful childhood dreams, spent reading Asterix, the gaul. I even imagined wild boars…

Everyday seems to come with a new challenge and I am determined that I meet them all. The latest one on the breakfasts and another one given by hubby dear are top of my mind. Hubby dear has given me the mission of all that I posted a year ago. Want to know the reason why? Well he feels those pictures have to be replaced with new ones. So here I am with the first in that attempt. is the first of the posts I did and it holds very dear to heart as its the most delicious one I can remember eating when I used to eat meat some 2 decades back. And now its a favorite with hubby dear and is prepared quite often. But only this I had a mission of clicking it away. I also wanted to try some dry that will go well with this .

Last night when hubby dear called from the station before starting , Peddu pulled the phone from me and said ‘Dada Da Da” meaning Daddy come come, well I was sure that would have put the Daddy dear in one spot. This mornin…

Nawabi Biryani Revisited with Chicken Roast ~ Weekend Cooking!

July 21st, 2008

We arrived back from Italy after our nearly two-week vacation completely exhausted. I’ve never been able to figure out how to relax when we travel because we pack too much into each day. Even though we know we can’t possibly see everything, somehow, we end up acting like we can.

When we left, I had every intention of focusing on food while we were away. Like that’s challenging when you’re a foodie, right? And I did look forward to each and every meal even though on most days, lunch occurred at about 4PM and we were beyond starving by that . But after taking photos all day each day, the last thing I felt like doing was taking photos of my food. Besides, I would have been embarrassed in some of the restaurants we enjoyed.

As promised, I did actually use a stove twice while we were in . The Campo di Fiori is a square not too far from where our rented apartment was. Each morning, vendors arrived with fresh fruit and vegetables, pasta, bread, housewares, …

So Much for Cooking in Rome

July 17th, 2008

Oh my goodness people. I can’t even wait to the food part of this post. I have to tell you right now. I had the worse ever on my last night in . Maarten! I hate to even put this out there, but I was in such shock. When I saw on the dessert , I got excited: someone thought my idea was good enough to make and I could boast to the other writers how good it was!

WRONG. VERY WRONG. VERY VERY WRONG.

It was unattractive, had whip cream on top, was very porous and super bland. is an art form. Timing is of the essence and the mixture of flavor is important. I won’t say the restaurant’s name but I was most displeased. I was insulted!

At least the oven-roasted cognac pear was divine.
