Did I tell you about the incident that happened a while ago? Well I don’t remember if I did or not, but wanted to share it anyway. One afternoon, while I was at lunch with my colleagues, I happened to get a call from Lax. It wasn’t a call I would like to avoid nor take right then. I thought I shall manage and started talking to her. My colleagues knew I was foodie, I didn’t want to confirm that my friends are too! I tried for the most time, managing with Aaa, Ohh..I am sure Lak thought I was crazy! But in the end, I couldn’t manage without uttering Cookies, Bread and cakes, couple of times.
When I was finally off the call, I could feel strange looks coming my way. I saw them looking at me very strangely. I managed saying ” Ah that’s my friend asking something.” They wouldn’t let me off until I explained. Ok, that’s my friend, who baked a batch of Cookies and Brownies and wanted to drop them at my place. I saw their jaws dropping…
Phewwwwwww! I am glad that this year´s Merdeka Open House 2008 - Mee and My Malaysia theme is not too difficult and there is so many intepretation of Mee that we fancy and can relate too, irregardless of age, race, religion or gender.
We are surrounded by mee in all shapes and sizes, cooked in many zillion ways, are ALL tasty and available around the clock at affordable price. It is only after moving to Germany that I am missing my yellow mee, mee sua, kuey teow, laksa noodle, and all sorts. The only type of noodle I can find in Kaufland is Meehoon.
But I´m glad there is one to begin with. Besides, I really do love Meehoon especially frying them. In Malaysia, we have three distinct version of Fried Meehoon ala Chinese, Indian or Malay style. Yeah, we’re going to Anita’s,
Yeah, we’re goin to have a party……….
Before I get on to talking about the party, I just wanted to mention the question I had asked in the previous post.
Yes, it was a dried out coconut, also called copra, without the shell. I knew most of you would recognize it. I had tried to crack a coconut and the shell split to reveal a whole coconut! This usually happen when the coconut has been kept for a long time and the water inside it dries out. Copra is what coconut oil is extracted from. Copra is also used in various Indian dishes and also to make a very tasty dry chutney powder, which I shall post at a later date.
So, Anita is having an <a href=”http://madte…
I am going to interrupt my series on Asian night, to bring you a guest blog post by none other than my mother. Momma Fran as she is known to my peers, could always be heard at athletic events as the one concerned mother yelling, don’t you push him Number #22, I have my eyes on you… Also, she has an infectious laugh that can be heard anywhere around Hendersonville. Theater productions seek her out for Dress Rehearsals to give the actors confidence before opening night. More importantly though, she has been a huge inspiration and supporter in my culinary exploits. I think it started with my blueberry muffin stand on the side of the road that my brother and I had, she of course made sure we never burned ourselves or the muffins. So, without further ado, I present to you, Momma Fran in her food blog debut.<a href=”http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7AxTlvbUylY/SKNT7MDUPJI/AAAAAAAAAxQ/eKlXeSaDg7U/s16…
