Strive as we might, like most families, we sometimes stumble when it comes to eating a 100% healthy diet.
We try to eat food products grown locally when possible, choosing produce that is organic and in season, whole foods and grains… and we continue to introduce into our diet lacto-fermented foods (those are foods which contain the ‘good for your gut bacteria’ to help promote a healthy

There are a lot of people who really like bananas and so I’m assuming that they would also like banana bread, given the number of recipes one can find for it on the net. Well, I’m one of those who enjoy bananas as fruit but not in bakes. Any more out there like me in this preference?

This article by Mark Bittman first introduced Jim Lahey of Sullivan Street Bakery and his No-Knead Bread. The technique took the world by storm. Everyone was trying it and it might really be the one recipe that has been tried and tested by amateur and professional bakers alike.
I’ve seen the recipe on several blogs, but hadn’t tried it until today. It was simple and easy and as Jim Lahey says, even a 6 year old can do it. You can watch his video here, and the recipe as published in the New York Times here.

Laura’s Portuguese Sweet Bread
For this month’s Taste & Create, Nicole at For The Love of Food paired me up with Laura of the Spiced Life. This event requires us to recreate a recipe of our choice from the collection of the blogger we have been paired up with.
Being a vegetarian living in India, I sometimes find myself narrowed down on choices of what to cook from the assigned blog. First because, of course, I’m vegetarian, and then I find that many of the listed ingredients are just not available here.
