Once again, it’s time for my monthly affair at My Kitchen Café. Every month I try to work whatever little charm I possess on bloggers whom I enjoy reading to get them down here to share a bit of themselves through their food.
This month it is my pleasure to have Jamie over for tea, actually coffee since that’s her brew of choice. She should have been here last month, but couldn’t as she wasn’t

I am on the road for a few days for work, eating out for each meal. Not bad, but I do miss my kitchen back home. (I am a sap, it has hardly been 12 hours since I left.)
Everytime that I go to the airport, I always treat myself with a new magazine. I love the News Stores that have 3 walls stretched from the floor to ceiling lined with magazines. I gaze at the seemingly endless number glossy covers and try to guess which will hold my interest the longest–U.S. Weekly (that is US Weekly for all of you Hollywood types, I call it U.S. Weekly because I feel a bit smarter that way), People, Veranda, Runners World, Shape, Gourmet, Martha, ah! So many tantelizing choices. After staring at the wall of magazines for far too long, this morning I selected the September edition of Food & Wine. It turned out to be an excellent choice. Two thumbs, way up.
There will be several posts in the future with recipes from this specific magazine, on top of the list are Wine Bar Nut Mix, Warm Crab Dip, and Pork with Arugula, Prosciutto and Tomatoes.
In addition to the recipes, I learned several interesting things I thought I’d share. Did you know:
For the first time, wine is more popular in America than beer
A Clover, is a high-tech machine that brews one cup of coffee at a time and costs k each! Starbucks plans to roll out these machines in their stores around the country.
And there is an excellent article on Jamie Oliver, my favorite quote is “I bought some seeds and chucked them into the ground. Most of the stuff grew and ripened, and I ate it. And it was bloody great.”
Oh. On a recipe note. I made Indian Butter Chicken from “A Good Appetite.” Seriously. Delish. I couldn’t say enough. I folowed the recipe, except I used whole milk instead of cream and I cooked it on low for about 1 hour because Mike cut the grass and it took longer than I had expected. It was better than going out for Indian. This is a must make.
Hello Hello!
We got back from Turkey last night and are already feeling the cold! I’m going to be posting a little bit about each place we sailed through over the next two weeks and I have over 2000 photo’s to sift through and edit so I’ll be sticking them up too.
I also have some very exciting news about the book- tomorrow is the first official photoshoot complete with food stylist and photographer! We have spent most of the day preparing for tomorrow and all I can say is it’s a stark contrast, going from tanning in 30 degree heat to prowling through boxes of peppers for the most photogenic, within hours of stepping off a plane! We have been cooking all day and the first shots will be taken tomorrow morning, so I’m hoping to feature a few behind the scenes pics later this week.
