My lunch.
A sandwich.
Full of colourful flavours.
Toast the bread and you’ll get some crunch.
In my sarnie:
Toasted home-made bread
Slices of fresh tomato
Slices of fresh, ripe avocado
Marinated sundried peppers in olive oil - straight from the jar (From a jar? So what, they’re good!)
The photo in this post is my entry for this month’s ‘Click’, a monthly theme-based photography contest

At Poway Farmers Market (PFM) I found some amazing things that local farmers and other small scale sellers sell. Richie had a booth that sold roasted chiles. He had all ranges from very spicy to mild ones, about
10 in each bag that was warm and ready to be turned into something special like chiles
rellenos. He also told us that he carried some spicy variety of
chile from Assam, India and was very popular at the market. The smell of these roasted chillies was so aromatic that I decided to buy a bag of them. He gave me a tip or two as to what in general people do with them. But I had my own plans for them. If you live anywhere in San Diego please do visit this farmers market with your kids. It is wonderful visiting the place on weekends and the kids can get to learn a lot from the farmers. For those of you who do not, please make your own roasted
chile or the tinned one should work just fine and follow the rest of the steps. In
10 minutes you would be in heaven eating something del…

Sounds strange and perhaps new, but trust me… this is newness in a good way. The
recipe is not one that is easily screw-up-able, so if you're afraid of cooking rice, this is a great way to start - and it has all the benefits of being very flavoursome! Thank God for the Spanish. I first tried Seafood
Paella at the Curator's House (thankfully my parents paid for that trip!) and it was amazing, but I was quite impressed with this vege version. Also, I just realised that this is vegan - but this didn't bother me one bit!
I got this recipe from A Series of Kitchen Experiments, but had to adapt it slightly, and for the current weather in Christchurch, I'd like to think it's cheaper for students. I've been buying at the small Chinese green grocer around Church Corner Mall - It's called "Full Season Fruit and Vege" or something, and we managed to get two full bags o…

Poor Steve has picked up a summer cold, and this morning was rainy and almost chilly. (Ok, it was 70 when I took the dog out–but compared to the upper 80s we’ve been having it felt cool!) I have been having a hard time coming up with inspiration for lunches and dinner while Steve and Simon have been home, so inspired by poor Steve’s cold, I asked him if some old fashioned chicken soup sounded good. He said it sounded amazing, and Simon was amenable since my chicken soup is one of his favorite things. The only problem is that I’ve been avoiding meat and meat products as much as possible lately. I think I’ve had meat once in the past week or so, and it tends to sit on my stomach like a rock when I do eat it. Fortunately, the boys don’t mind being vegetarian–which is good since today I converted my normal chicken soup recipe to a vegetarian version. (Don’t worry, they both still loved it!)

We had been to one branch of Nature’s Vegetarian Restaurant before and were very impressed with the food served. The last time, we were invited by our vegetarian friends from Klang to have a Chinese New Year dim sum dinner with them. That dinner was incredible awesome and even now I still have those fresh flashing memory of the food I had. This time we got the chance to try out their main outlet at Bangsar, flushed along the famous Jalan Telawi.
