Sanaikizhangu/Yam or Suran is a root vegetable that has this earthy taste. Mostly the frozen kind of it is found in the U.S and so I always like to eat a lot of it when I go back home. Sanaikizhangu is used to prepare curry/poriyal, masiyal, chips or in kozhambu. In whatever form they come they are very tasty.
